Chis and Els left Belgium in 2001 onboard the Agapetos for a great around the world adventure. After four years and two weeks, they've been back in Belgium but are still intensively enjoying sailing and travelling in many ways.

Three golden rules?

Doe niet "niet", maar geniet = just do it and enjoy this once in a lifetime experience!
Folow your own rythm (inside the safety rules of course)
Never leave on Friday. It's bad luck

It's extremely impressive how well prepared they were. Els handpainted flags, before leaving, of all the countries they planned to visit along the way... Here the diference between a used and a not used one.

Siffer's golden rules

“Have good energy supply.
Don’t overbuy on food (definitely not here).
and… Avoid inviting friends a long period upfront. You don’t really know when you’ll be, where you’ll be.
Boat life tunes you synergicly to each other so joiners will feel like intruders. It’s good when they come, but it’s even better when they go.” Those are the three golden rules recommended by Siffer to add to the previous “yum-pee-loo”.
For the both of us, this talk mostly confirmed things we knew (or at least, confirmed things we think we know). The charm of the “firsts”. The theory has been heard, but I guess we’ll just see for the practice.

Making this trip just feels so right. It’s a great sensation to go for it.

Thomas did warn us though: “Beware. When you’ve climbed that Everest, you can’t climb any higher.”

We’ll get by with a little help from our friends

The trip we’re planning sweeps a lot of energy. Preparing is an adventure in itself. Many aspects are at sake, and that’s part of the fun. Some say this project is great, some (but definitely not many) say we’re crazy,… and some add action to words and give us a helpful hand. Thanks for being such fun and great support. Love ya guys!

eve’s sailing courses

The captain has been sailing since he’s seven years old. But I wanted to make sure I got the basics right. The sailing courses on caravel were great fun thanks to the entertaining teams. Here “relieved” after the exam: (from left to right) Luc, Pieter, Geike, Frank, Jan, Patrick. Inès too bad we had to miss you on the last day.
